European shares extend early gains

LONDON (MarketWatch) — European shares extended early gains on Friday, with the U.K. FTSE 100 index up 2% at 5,996.60, the German DAX 30 index up 2.2% at 7,000.96 and the French CAC-40 index up 2.5% at 4,992.00. Shares strengthened after Microsoft offered to buy Yahoo for $44.6 billion.
