Light sweet crude heads back toward record level

LONDON (MarketWatch) — Light sweet crude prices moved back towards record highs on Thursday. The contract was recently up $1.18 to $112.08 a barrel in electronic trading, almost at Wednesday’s intraday record of $112.21 a barrel. The contract also closed at a new record of $110.87 a barrel on Wednesday, with the price move fueled by U.S. government data that showed a surprising drop in U.S. inventories.
