McCain to call for budget reviews, drug program cuts
LOS ANGELES (MarketWatch) — Likely Republican presidential nominee Sen. John McCain will call for a halt in discretionary spending hikes to conduct across-the-board budget reviews throughout the federal government, and seek higher premiums from affluent patients who seek Medicare prescription drug benefits. Aides to McCain said in a conference call with reporters that the Arizona senator will make the proposals as part of a wide-ranging speech on the economy in Pittsburgh on Tuesday.
