Citizens Communications net income drops 33%, sales up

LONDON (MarketWatch) — Citizens Communications first-quarter net income fell to $45.6 million, or 14 cents a share, from $67.7 million, or 21 cents a share, at the same point a year ago. Sales at the telecom group rose 2% to $569.2 million. “Our first quarter performance is a direct result of our ongoing primary focus on keeping customers, upgrading them to new products and services and putting new customers on service,” said Maggie Wilderotter, chairman and CEO.
