Omnicare reports first quarter loss of $29.9 million

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) — Omnicare Inc. Thursday said it swung to a first-quarter loss of $29.9 million, or 25 cents a share, from earnings of $43 million, or 35 cents a share, in the year-earlier period. The pharmaceutical-care provider said sales for the quarter were down to $1.56 billion from $1.6 billion during the same period last year. Results for the first quarter included pretax charges for special items, including litigation, totaling $30 million.
