Research in Motion, Thomson Reuters plan venture fund
TEL AVIV (MarketWatch) — Research In Motion, the Waterloo, Ontario, producer of the BlackBerry communications system, and Thomson Reuters said Monday that they would launch a US$150 million venture-capital fund to invest in applications and services for the BlackBerry and other mobile platforms. Thomson Reuters is the Toronto information-services group. BlackBerry Partners Fund, to be co-managed by JLA Ventures and RBC Venture Partners, will not limit its investments to companies at particular stages of development, the companies said in a statement. JLA is a Canadian venture-capital firm.
