China Telecom to pay $15 billion for Unicom’s CDMA network
HONG KONG (MarketWatch) — China Telecom and its parent said Monday they have agreed to a pay 110 billion yuan ($15 billion) to buy China Unicom’s wireless CDMA network, marking the first major deal to be formally announced since China unveiled an extensive revamp of the telecommunications industry last month. The company said it has requested its Hong Kong shares resume trading Tuesday and expects its New York-listed depositary reciepts will resume trading Monday or Tuesday.
