Alcatel-Lucent leads telecoms in early trades
WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) - Shares of Alcatel-Lucent rose more than 4% to lead telecommunications stocks in early Tuesday trades after the equipment maker won a $1 billion contract in China. Other notable gainers included Nortel Networks Corp. and LM Ericsson Telephone Co. and Leap Wireless International Inc, all of which rose around 2% in value. Decliners included Ciena Corp. , off 3%, and Verizon Communications Inc. , which fell 0.9%.
