FactSet third-quarter profit rises 13.9% to $32.5 million

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) — FactSet Research Systems Inc. said Tuesday its fiscal third-quarter profit totaled $32.5 million, or 65 cents per share, from $28.6 million, or 56 cents per share, in the same quarter a year before. The average estimate of analysts was for earnings of 63 cents per share, according to FactSet’s own survey. Revenue for the period was $147 million versus $121 million in the year-ago quarter. The company also said it would pay a total of between $67 million and $80 million for the purchase of a copy of Thomson Reuters’ Thomson Fundamentals database, with some of the payments based on revenue from the data. For the fourth quarter, FactSet said it expects revenue to be in the $150 million-$154 million range.
