GM delays SUV redesigns in focus on lighter vehicles: report
LONDON (MarketWatch) — General Motors Corp. is delaying the redesign of SUVs and full-size trucks as it undergoes a wider review aimed at building lighter, fuel-efficient vehicles, according to a report in The Wall Street Journal. The newspaper said the shift in focus would hit GM’s North American profits and slow its revenue for at least the rest of 2008. Quoting a spokesman, the report said GM will extend the life cycle of its current lineup of pickups and SUVs. It added the firm has also discussed dropping at least one future Hummer vehicle.
