AAA forecasts fall in Labor Day travel
SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) — Motorist group AAA said Friday that it expects to see a slight decrease in the number of Americans traveling during the Labor Day holiday weekend. It predicts that almost 34.38 million Americans will travel 50 miles or more from home during the holiday, down 320,000 Americans from the 34.7 million who traveled last year. It would be the first decline in Labor Day travel since 2006. The average price for a gallon of regular gasoline stood at $3.692 on Friday, according to AAA’s Daily Fuel Gauge Report.
