Automakers seeking $50 bln loan for fuel-efficiency: report
SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) — The Big Three automakers and U.S. auto-parts makers will seek double the amount of government loans they originally requested to help them build more fuel-efficient vehicles, Bloomberg reported Friday, citing sources close to the matter. General Motors Corp. , Ford Motor Co. , Chrysler LLC and auto-parts makers will ask for $50 billion in loans, $25 billion more than approved in last year’s energy bill, according to the news agency.
