Crude prices drop 5.4% for the day, up slightly for the week

SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) — October crude closed at $114.59 per barrel in New York Friday, down $6.59, or 5.4%, for the session. It ended the week with a modest gain of 0.6% after rising over the past three days. Concerns about a slowdown in demand continued, and strength in the U.S. dollar added to pressure on oil prices.
