FDA approves Amgen’s Nplate

BOSTON (MarketWatch) — The Food and Drug Administration said it has approved Amgen Inc.’s new hematology product Nplate for the treatment of the condition chronic immune thrombocytopenic purpura, a rare blood disorder that can lead to serious bleeding. Nplate, also known as romiplostim, is used to stimulate bone marrow to produce additional platelets to help in clotting.
