Fitch may downgrade AIG ratings on review uncertainties
SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) — Fitch Ratings said late Friday it may downgrade the ratings of American International Group Inc. and its subsidiaries because of uncertainties about a business review the company plans to complete in September. Fitch has AA- issuer default and senior debt ratings, an A+ junior subordinated debentures rating, and a short term IDR of F1+ on AIG. The possible downgrade also reflects Fitch’s ongoing uncertainty associated with AIG’s potential for additional losses on residential mortgage backed securities.
