U.S. stocks add to gains after Bernanke speech
NEW YORK (MarketWatch) — U.S. stocks added on to earlier gains on Friday, after Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke said growth will remain weak and inflation is expected to moderate later this year. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 138 points, or 1.2%, to 11,568, compared with 11,501 in early trade. The S&P 500 index gained 12.5 points, or 1%, to 1,290, while the Nasdaq Composite rose 25 points to 2,406.
