European shares edge lower

LONDON (MarketWatch) — European shares traded flat-to-lower on Thursday morning as autos lost ground amid another uptick in crude-oil prices. Financials also struggled, with shares of French lender Natixis down 4.9% after the firm posted a near-1 billion euro quarterly loss after taking a 1.5 billion asset write down. The French CAC-40 index lost 0.2% to 4,364.85, the German DAX 30 index fell 0.4% to 6,299.02 and the U.K. FTSE 100 index declined 0.2% to 5,514.90.
