API reports rise in crude and gasoline supplies
SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) — The American Petroleum Institute reported Thursday a rise of 4.2 million barrels in crude supplies for the week ended August 29. The Energy Department had reported a decline of 1.9 million barrels for the latest week. Motor gasoline supplies were up 935,000 million barrels, the API said. The government had reported that supplies fell by 1 million barrels. Distillate supplies were down 157,000 barrels, the API said. They were down 400,000 barrels for the week, according to the Energy Department.
