AGCO earnings per share up 30% in quarter

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) — AGCO Corp. said Wednesday that third-quarter earnings rose to $103 million, or $1.04 a share, compared to $77 million, or 80 cents a share, in the same period last year. Sales grew to $2.09 billion compared to $1.61 billion for the Duluth, Ga., farm equipment maker and distributor. Analysts polled by FactSet Research estimated, on average, sales of $2.03 billion. For the full year of 2008, AGCO is targeting earnings per share in the $3.90 to $4.00 range.
