Isuzu Motors to lay-off 1,400 part-time workers
HONG KONG (MarketWatch) — Isuzu Motors will terminate the jobs of 1,400 part-time workers by year end, according to a media report Thursday. The lay-offs are part of Isuzu’s plan to reduce capacity utilization at its plants begining next year, the Nikkei newspaper reported, citing a company statement. The report said the job cuts include part-time workers with employment contracts that have yet to expire, an unusual move. Isuzu is a maker of trucks, buses and sport-utility vehicles.
