Patterson lowers full-year outlook after profit drops

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) — Patterson Cos. said Thursday that its fiscal second-quarter profit fell to $46.9 million, or 40 cents a share, from $53.7 million, or 39 cents, a year earlier. Sales in the quarter ended Oct. 25 rose to $759.5 million from $742 million. The company lowered its forecast for the year ending Jan. 24 to $1.73 to $1.77 a share from a previous projection of as much as $1.98.
