Tech stocks slip in early trading

SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) — Technology stocks were weak in early trading Thursday, with the Nasdaq Composite Index down 0.4% to 1,381 following a bruising sell-off in the prevous session. The Morgan Stanley High-Tech Index was off nearly 1%. Semiconductor stocks were particularly weak, with the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index down nearly 2%, with Intel and Advanced Micro Devices posted early losses. Dell was trading flat ahead of its third-quarter report, due after the closing bell.
